Specific requirements according to situation

If applying through a representative, an authorized notarized power of attorney expressly mentioning NIE application is required. If issued abroad, it must bear the Hague Apostille (or consular legalization) and an official sworn translation into Spanish.

Why generic applications are rejected

Police authorities will reject applications that do not provide concrete, verifiable documentary proof of the necessity to hold a NIE in Spain. Generic statements such as "for future investments" are insufficient.
